2024 Registration

OPEN

*EVERY person attending the event in Bimini MUST REGISTER!
(This is for on-island safety precautions, lodging assignments, and anticipated logistics.)

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

*READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE REGISTERING

1.  REGISTRATION DEADLINE DATES

  • All paddlers must be registered by April 1st, 2024

  • All Captains and Crew should be registered by May 15th, 2024.

2.  PADDLER REGISTRATION FEES

  • All registration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE

  • ALL paddlers, except Recreational Solo that NEED boat support.

    • $149 < before October 1st

    • $199 > after October 1st

    • $249 > after January 8th through the end of registration on April 1st

  • Recreational Solo paddlers that NEED boat support:

    • $399 < before October 1st

    • $449 > after October 1st

    • $499 > after January 8th through the end of registration on April 1st

3.  FUNDRAISING MINIMUM

  • ALL paddlers' fundraising minimum = $2,000

  • Virtual Paddlers' fundraising minimum = $250

  • Suggested $500 fundraising minimum for Captains and Crew.

 

4. REGISTRATION GUIDELINES

  • Each participant must register themselves.  

  • If you register another participant your credit card will be held liable for the other participant's fundraising commitment should they not achieve it.

  • You’ll need a credit card for your fundraising commitment (*paddlers and virtual paddlers only).

  • You will need your passport number and expiration date. 

  • Captains will need to answer 32 custom questions about their boat.  They should register themselves or be present if being assisted. 

GETTING STARTED
 How to register....

STEP 1

  • Choose how you will register & fundraise...

  • All paddlers, Captains, and Crew have the option to choose one of three:  

AS AN INDIVIDUAL

  • Choose this if you’re paddling and fundraising on your own. 

JOIN A TEAM  

  • Choose this if one of your teammates has already started a team.  You’ll be able to select a name from a drop down list. 

  • All Captains & Crew should choose this option as they will be part of a team along with their paddlers. If you are a Support Boat recruited by the event itself for our RecSolo paddlers select “Team Rec Solo”.

CREATE A TEAM  

  • Choose this if you are the person creating a team so that your captain, crew and other paddlers can join.

  • You will be considered the Fundraising Team Captain and will be in charge of setting up your team page fundraising page (*instructions to do this are emailed after registration).

STEP 2

  • Choose if you’ll be participating RECREATIONALLY or COMPETITIVELY.

    • Recreational is great for a leisurely fun experience. But does not qualify for cash prize purse. 

    • Competitive participation requires following the competitive rules. Click here for the rules. Only qualifies for cash prizes if 5 or more teams sign up per the category. 

 

STEP 3

  • Choose if you’ll be paddling SOLO or RELAY.

    • Solo -  Choose this if you're attempting to go beach to beach the full 80 miles.  You can have other solo paddlers with you on the same boat. Competitive rules apply to competitive categories only.

    • Relay - Choose this is you want to split the 80 miles with a teammate.  You can choose whatever intervals you'd like. Competitive rules do apply for all competitive categories.

~ NON-PADDLER  TICKET CATETGORY ~
EXPLANATION & RULES

VIRTUAL PADDLER

  • Can't join us in Bimini? Want to support your friend or family member reach their fundraising goal? This is the category for you!  Sign up as a Virtual Paddler, create your own fundraising campaign, or join your friend/family member's team, and have fun fundraising!

  • $250 fundraising minimum


 

CAPTAIN

  • No Fee

  • Registration includes Challenge Coin, Commemorative long sleeve performance shirt, sponsor gift bag, burgee flag and chance to win numerous prizes!

  • Suggested fundraising goal $500 (not required).

  • Top fundraising captains will be eligible for awesome prizes.

  • *ONLY ONE CAPTAIN PER TEAM ALLOWED.

  • *If you are a co-captain or first mate then please register as CREW

  • Captains need to lodge on the same island as their team


 

CREW (Includes Shirt)

  • $50 Fee

  • CREW any person that is returning ON THE SUPPORT BOAT (that is NOT a paddler or captain).

  • Fee includes Challenge Coin, Commemorative Sponsor Shirt, Sponsor Gift Bag, and chance to win numerous prizes!

  • Suggested fundraising goal $500 (not required).

  • Top fundraising crew will be eligible for awesome prizes.

  • *MUST participate in Crossing safety class to crew a boat.


FAMILY or FRIEND  (*WITH Purchase of Sponsor Shirt)

  • $50 Fee

  • FRIENDS/FAMILY = any non paddler/non captain attendees that are NOT returning on a support boat. ONLY CREW can return on a support boat.

  • Registration fee includes Commemorative Long Sleeve Shirt, Sponsor Gift Bag and chance to win numerous prizes!

  • Suggested fundraising goal $500 (not required).

  • Top fundraising crew will be eligible for awesome prizes.


 

FAMILY or FRIEND (*DOES NOT INCLUDE Sponsor Shirt)

  • No Fee

  • FRIENDS/FAMILY are any non paddler/non captain attendees that are NOT returning on a support boat. ONLY CREW can return on a support boat.

  • Registration fee DOES NOT INCLUDES a commemorative sponsor shirt​​

  • Suggested fundraising goal $500 (not required).

  • Top fundraising crew will be eligible for awesome prizes.

~ NONPROFIT TEAM CATEGORY ~
EXPLANATION & RULES

RECREATIONAL - NONPROFIT TEAM 

(Fees: $149 < before October 1st  /  $199 > October 1st  /  $249 > after January 8th through end of registration on April 1st)

  • BOAT SUPPORT - Requires securing your own support boat and captain

  • MAXIMUM SLOTS - Only 10 NPO teams will be accepted. 

  • FUNDRAISING MINIMUM - $2,000 fundraising minimum per paddler

  • REQUIRED DOCUMENTS - NPO must provide 3 documents & their logos to qualify:

    • 1. Government issued 501(c)3 designation

    • 2. W-9 

    • 3. Letter on NPO letterhead designating named paddler/s as representative/s & stating their direct affiliation as directors, staff, or  volunteers. ​​​

    • 4. Your NPO’s logos in BOTH file types… PNG and VECTOR files

  • NAMING YOUR TEAM - NPO team must be named after the organization's legal name. Ex: Team Piper's Angels Foundation, Team Loggerhead Marine Life Center, etc.

  • ENTRY FEE - Includes Challenge Coin, Commemorative Sponsor Shirt, Crossing Crusader Medal, Sponsor Gift Bag, and chance to win numerous prizes!

  • Nonprofit teams can have paddlers do it SOLO and/or RELAY.

  • Can be on any non-motorized craft (Example: Kayaks, tandem kayaks, etc.)

  • Teams can be any number of paddlers as long as the support boat can safely support all paddlers, gear, crew etc.. If more than 4 paddlers, then the boat Must be approved by the Logistics Safety team.

  • NPO Paddlers cannot qualify for competitive cash prizes.    

'CROSSING CARES'

50/50 FUNDRAISING SHARE

  • To qualify for the 'CROSSING CARES' 50/50 profit split the following must be met:​

    • Team must raise $10,000 minimum to activate qualification​ with 4 paddlers or less.​

    • If more than 4 paddlers are on a team then the team fundraising minimum goes up an additional $2,000 per paddler.

      • EX:  6 paddlers = $14,000 minimum.

    • Everything over and above the individual fundraising minimums will be split 50/50. 

      • EX:  Team of 4 raises $10,000 they qualify since the met the minimum threshold.

    • Team's profit share would be calculated as follows:  

      • 4 paddlers X $2,000 min = $8,000. 

      • Total raised minus mandatory fundraising minimums = Profit / 2 = 50% Profit Share

      • ​EX:  $10,000 - $8,000 = $2,000/2 = $1,000 50% PROFIT SHARE​

NONPROFIT CROSSING CARES 50/50

EXPLANATION & RULES

RECREATIONAL - SOLO PADDLER  (*NEEDS Boat Support)

(Fees: $399 < before October 1st  /  $429 > October 1st  /  $499 > after January 8th through end of registration on April 1st)

  • This is the ONLY participant category where boat support is provided for the paddler.  Entry fee includes covering support captains' cost of fuel, shared lodging, and Bahamian entry fee.

  • You may enter this category using any non-motorized paddle craft. (Example: Kayak)

  • Entry fee also includes Challenge Coin, Commemorative Sponsor Shirt, Crossing Crusader Medal, Sponsor Gift Bag, and chance to win numerous prizes!

  • Rec Solo paddlers will be grouped by skill level to the best of our ability.

  • Rec Solo paddlers will be lodged together with their teammates.

  • Rec Solo paddlers CANNOT bring their own CREW.  If you want a friend/family member to join you in Bimini they must find their own way home.

  • Rec Solo Captains bring their own crew and have final say over who his/her crew will be.

 

RECREATIONAL - SOLO PADDLER  (*Providing their own Boat Support)

(Fees: $149 < before October 1st  /  $199 > October 1st  /  $249 > after January 8th through end of registration on April 1st)

  • Requires securing your own support boat and captain. 

  • You may enter this category using any non-motorized paddle craft. (Example: Kayak)

  • Entry fee also includes Challenge Coin, Commemorative Sponsor Shirt, Crossing Crusader Medal, Sponsor Gift Bag, and chance to win numerous prizes!

RECREATIONAL - RELAY TEAM

(Fees: $149 < before October 1st  /  $199 > October 1st  /  $249 > after January 8th through end of registration on April 1st)

  • Requires securing your own support boat and captain.

  • Category includes kayaks and all other non-motorized vessels.

  • Entry fee includes Challenge Coin, Commemorative Sponsor Shirt, Crossing Crusader Medal, Sponsor Gift Bag, and chance to win numerous prizes!

  • Teams can be 2-4 person. *May be larger if the support boat can safely support all paddlers, gear, crew etc.. Must be approved by the Logistics Safety team.
